Oil Pans
Marine oil pans are subject to special conditions. The lack of air flowing around the Oil Pan creates higher oil temperatures which destroy the lubricating properties of the oil in low capacity oil pans. The motion of the boat in the water sloshes the oil in a pan without the correct baffling. Air could get to the pickup resulting in momentary oil pressure loss. The oil also can be tossed into the crank which can foam and aerate it. The pounding effect of oil in the pan can also cause fractures in pans without reinforcement. The design and construction of CANTON Marine oil pans makes sure there are no problems in the roughest conditions.
These features are included in all Canton Marine pans:
- High Capacity Sumps to combat heat and add longevity to oil.
- Trap door baffling to control oil slosh.
- Removable windage tray to hold oil down away from the crank.
- Fabricated from 14 gauge .075 steel to eliminate stress cracking.
- 14 gauge steel baffles and trap doors are welded into the pan for extra strength.
- Assembled and welded on heavy steel fixtures so each pan is correct.
- Triple block fitted during manufacturing to insure a proper fit.
- Double leak tested and chemically cleaned to remove any scale.
- Powder Coating and brass plugs for corrosion protection.
